How the Wim Hof Method helps you to fight Inflammation!

​In the past weeks I have spoken with Wim Hof & many Wim Hof Instructors about the Corona Virus & how we can strengthen our immune system with the Wim Hof Method. If you are interested in the topic - I recommend these  two podcasts:

What I find most striking, is that inhibiting the IL-6 inflammatory protein will reduce symptoms of the coronavirus.​  Currently some pharma companies (Roche, Regeneron, EUSA Pharma) are researching are and testing IL-6 antagonists to treat COVID-19. What is so interesting about that?! Well the Wim Hof Method has been shown to reduce IL-6 Levels!!!

In 2014 the Radboud University in the Netherlands published a study about the Wim Hof Method. They tested 24 men. Twelve of them were trained in the Wim Hof Method - the other 12 served as control. They injected LPS into all of these 24 men - which causes a strong inflammatory reaction (fever, headache, increased IL-6 & other inflammatory messengers). Interestingly, the 12 men trained in the Wim Hof Method, which were practising the Wim Hof Breathing during the entire experiment length showed lower levels of inflammation and symptoms. Yes, they also showed significantly lower IL-6 Levels!

Additionally, in the trained men, the anti-inflammatory protein IL-10 increased, as well as white blood cells like lymphocytes, monocytes and neutrophils - which all help to fight of bacteria and viruses! I am quite excited about this research!

Looking at the bright side!

Two weeks ago I drove back from the Wim Hof Basecamp to Potsdam. Today we have been in self-selected quarantine for more than two weeks. I guess many of you are staying at home as well - to flaten the curve ;) 

Looking at the bright site: due to COVID-19 we finally have time to do all the things that have been on our mind for a while - for me that was writing Newsletters and new Blog Posts  ;)
